The flow of gravity-driven rivulets in the entrance region

Abstract

The formation and development of flow of gravity-driven liquid rivulets down a vertical wall is  analysed in the paper. The shape of the rivulets  changes  due to the interaction of gravitational, viscous and surface tension forces. A simple model based on the momentum balance is put forward showing reasonable agreement with available experimental data.
