Abstract

At the working environment, such as offices, hospitals and machine shops, the production of ozone is severely prohibited, even if smokes or particulates have to be removed by electrostatic precipitators. Thus, the two-stage ESP is widely used where positive corona is generated at the ionizer. We have investigated the fundamental characteristics of a model two-stage ESP and already reported some of experimental results. When the applied electric field is reduced to the lower level so that not ail charged particles are collected at the collector section, the deflection patteln of charged particles was observed within the collector section. Concentration ofcharged particłe is measured at different position at the end of collector section and V shape pattern of concentration was observed by changing voltages, collector length and gas velocity. Flom these results, an empirical equation was deduced which agreed reasonably well with the experimental evidence.

Keywords:
