A method for calculation of characteristics of one-stage and two-stage axial-flow turbines
STANISŁAW ANTAS, TADEUSZ CHMIELNIAK, JANUSZ KUJDA

Abstract

This paper presents a model and block diagrams of two programs enabling determination of tlre characteristics of a reaction axial-turbine of an aircraft engine. The method employed to describe the flow pherromena with the application of the similarity criterion of thermo-gasdynamics processes can be reduced to an iterative solution of algebraic equations. The T62003 and TURB297 programs developed by WSK PZL-Rzeszów S.A. provide a full theoretical analysis of the influence of rims geometrical size and aerodynamic stream values on the turbine characteristic patterns. The Mukhtarov model elaborated by CIAM was used to determine aerodynamic losses. The results calculated with the application of the above mentioned programs are within the spread of the characteristics that were obtained via the CAT program, for which thre Ainley-Mathieson method, confirmed by experimental tests, is appiied.
