Abstract
Nowadays, various programs for optimization and simulation of power systems are used. Mathematical model based on particular system element characteristics is a core of this type of programs. How accurate the modelling is depend on the accuracy of implemented characteristics. In the course of time, characteristics are subject to change (ageing process). Continous correction of characteristics must be done to keep them up to date. Till now, characteristics have been built based on thermal measurements, performed by special companies and could not be corrected in the on-line mode. Today, most power plant are equipped with distributed control system (DCS). These systems collct informaation for controlling, perform the control and archive the results of measurements. A large number of values are collected even during short system working time. These data an be easily used in different types of calculations. One of them is identification of characteristics. This type of data allows correcting characteristics in on-line mode.
