Effect of thermodynamic parameters of surrounding air on the dynamic wetting of surface by droplets
ZBIGNIEW ZAPAŁOWICZ

Abstract

The paper presents the test stand, methodology, and results of experimental research on the phenomenon of surface wetting by a water droplet evaporating into air. The influence of environmental parameters on the size of wetting area has been expressed by means of the dimensionless parameter N that takes into account the intensity and direction of mass transfer between the droplet and the environment. It has also been confirmed experimentally that the parameter N,standing for the mass of moisture exchanged with the environment, can be used to describe the influence of the thermodynamic environmental parameters on the wetting process. It has been found that there is a relation between the parameter N and coefficient C appearing in theoretical models of the wetting phenomenon.
