Abstract
A plasma-burner 100 V has been developed by the Institute of Thermomechanics. This is intended to verify the measuring methods of local temperatures, velocities and thermal flux in the stream of a high temperature gas. The plasma-burner is a plate type one, capable of being modifled in the geometry of the discharge chamber and generating a long, vortex stabilized arc. Three different modiflcations have been investigated, viz. : with a short, middle-length and long arc at 40 - 180 A and a flow of argon 0,37- 3,0 g/s. Tbe average temperatures of the gas, measured at the jet outlet, have been found to be up to 10,500oK, the velocities were up to 850 m/s.
