Wilson Point Experiments in Turbines
ALLEN SMITH

Abstract

Several investigators have shown experimentally that this physical description of spontaneous nucleation is valid for convergent divergent nozzles, moreover, the ultimate number and size of the water droplets in turbines has also been associated with such a process, although no direct experimental evidence is available from turbines to support this assumption. Fears of excessive blading damage, as well as loss in efficiency, however, especially in those turbines supplied with near saturated steam from water moderated reactors, have sustained an intense interest among turbine manufacturers to understand and evaluate the influence of supersaturation.
