Hydrodynamic Characteristics of systems of Helical Vortices with Virtex Cores of Finite Dimensions

Abstract

Starting from the basic equations of the fluid mechanics relations between the velocity field induced far behind the propeller and extrernal forces representing a screw propeller generating this field have been derived in the paper. The model adopted for calculations has been based on a system of concentrated vortices with cavitation singularities of a vortex core.

The relations derived make it possible to determine ideal hydrodynamic characteristics of a screw propeller. Exemplary characteristics for selected vortex systems in various coordinates systems have been presented in the paper.
