Abstract

In the paper a method of calculation of the viscous wake component is suggested based on the frictional wake of an equivalent flat plate which depends on the Reynolds number and the propeller diameter-ship length ratio. The friction wake fraction of the flat plate combined with the form factor gives the viscous wake component which can be used to correlate the ship and modęl nominal mean wake fractions. The method proposed has been verified by comparison with test results for four series of geometrically similar models.
