JERZY LITOROWICZ, ZDZISŁAW REYMANN, KAZIMIERZ STELLER

Abstract

The paper begins with discussion of trends, observed throughout the world, towards reconstruction and modernization of small water power plants. The ecological importance of these objects is emphasized. Attention is brought to the fact that ecological considerations become more and more appreciated in the majority of European countries and that the number of countries where small water power plants are built is rising. An opinion is expressed that in this country the main effort should be made towards restitution and modernization of existing water power plants making possible their fully automatic operation.

The work done at the IF-FM Department of Fluid Dynamics is presented on this background. Its importance for the agriculture is emphasized,. The concept of using Ossberger turbines in small water power plants is put forward. An example of design of such a turbine is presented.
