Abstract

lte paper concerns an electrostatic method for measuring the charge carried by a single particle of charged aerosol. The probe is in the forrn of a ring or a long tube. A charged particle flows throughout the interior of this ring along its axis. The voltage signal induced in a measuring circuit is a measure ofthe  prticle charge. The theoreticat limit of the charge measured, determined by the therrnal noise, is lower than about 10^-14C with an inaccuracy 5%.
