Born at 26. 05. 1927 in Lwów.

Education  graduated  at  Technical  University  of  Gdańsk  [ m. t.sc.-1951,  dr. t.sc.-1958, dr. habil.engg.- 1969] and at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of P.A.of Sc. (IFFM] prof. -1973.

Employed at  Technical  University  of  Gdańsk as assistant and tutor, 1951 - 1956 and at IFFM as an independent research fellow, 1956 - 1969, assistant professor, 1969 - 1973, and professor, since 1973

At IFFM active as Gas Dynamics Department manager, 1958-1970, Deputy Director for Sc.Matters, 1970 - 1977, Institutes Director, 1977 - 1998 (21 years throughout !). Retired in 1998 ; part time employed in 1998- at  the IFFM Dept. of Turbine Aerodynamics of the Fluid Thermomechanics Center.

Interest for research and development concentrate around:
- fluid-flow machinery aerodynamics,
- theory and experiments on blade cascades,
- two - phase flow and turbomachinery blades erosion,
- thermal diagnostics of power engg. objects.

Scientific output collected in over 160 publications in renowned Polish and foreign periodicals and Editors. Just to indicate some examples : dr. habil.engg. dissertation on “Liquid phase motion in wet steam turbine blading” has been published  by P.W.N ed.,1969; a book on “Steam turbines blade erosion” has been published  in the editorial series “Turbomachinery” of  “Ossolineum, Edit. Office”,1991; a book on “ Thermal diagnostics of power objects deterioration”, co-authored with J.Gluch, has been published in the editorial office of IFFM, 2004; Co-authored with his daughter Magdalena Krzyżanowska-Mierzewska a book “According to father, according to daughter- a history of the family” has been published in 2010 by Warsaw editors W.A.B. The book sells well to the authors satisfaction.
Teaching experience collected in lecturing at the Technical University of Gdańsk, 1949-1980, at the University of Zagreb, 1969-1970, at the University of Delavare and Michigan University (USA) as well as at the University of Stuttgart, 1983-1984 and 1987; practice  after graduation by Sulzer and Brown Boveri Switzerland, 1961-1962.

Managing experience gained at different leadership positions, among others in IFFM as a coordinator of different research programs of various local and national levels, research leader of national research grants, -2004, member of multiple scientific councils and committees of the P.A.of Sc. and other institutions, member of A.S.M.E. and A.S.M.E. Turbomachinery Committee, 1972-2000, Org. Committee member of the European Turbomachinery Conference (ETC), 1993-2009.

Contributed to the modernization of IFFM oriented toward basic research and fair and effective relations to the national power industry.

Member of national scientific and professional organizations, among others the Gdańsk Scientific Society, 1973-.

Decorated by different honors, among others Cross of Polonia Restituta ,1980, 1989.
