Biomass is a basic source of renewable energy in Poland. The Department carries out investigation of biomass and wastes conversion into liquid and gaseous fuels. In cooperation with Adam Cenian Group the Thermal Depolymerisation experimental stand was established. It consists of high pressure reactor, heater, regulation system and chemical. The stand will be used for conversion of biomass and wastes into high quality biodiesel. In high temperature and pressure chemicals bound of long chain polymers breaks into short-chain hydrocarbons. Process in the reactor lasting few minutes, mimics the natural geological processes assumed to be involved in the production of fossil fuels.
