PhD DSc Eng Katarzyna Siuzdak, prof. IMP PAN

2024 – Distinction as one of the 12 contemporary women scientists of Gdańsk, who explore diverse fields of science, represent various universities and research institutions, and share a common mission to leave the world a better place.
Katarzyna Siuzdak was one of the featured personalities in the outdoor temporary exhibition titled UCZONE ("Women Scientists"), dedicated to women in science, held at the Hevelianum Center in Gdańsk. Her nomination among the 12 contemporary Gdańsk scholars was awarded by a committee of professors from the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, Medical University of Gdańsk, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, in collaboration with the Fahrenheit University Women’s Club, representatives of the City of Gdańsk, and the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Program.

2023 - Laureate of the 5th edition of the Prof. W. H. Nernst Scientific Award for technical achievements in electrochemical processes, with the project titled "Development of a method for fabrication and modification of ordered layers of nanotubes using a pulsed laser beam, including semitransparent substrates, for energy storage and conversion devices."

2023 - Nomination in the 3rd edition of the #PoSwojemu (In Her Own Way) campaign organized by Twój Styl magazine in the Education category.

2022 – Distinguished by Forbes Women Poland as one of 22 Polish women worth to track in 2022, recognized for their impactful contributions in science, business, and activism.

2018–2020 - Recipient of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists demonstrating significant scientific activity

2014–2017 - Recipient of the IMP PAN Director’s Scholarship for the best young researchers, awarded in recognition of scientific contribution.

2016 - Recipient of the START Scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science.

2015 - Winner of the Rector’s Cup of Gdańsk University of Technology at the 10th Technicon-Innowacje Industrial Technology, Science, and Innovation Fair for the project "Highly ordered titanium dioxide nanotube layers for applications in photovoltaics and photocatalysis."

2020 - Intelligent Development Award 2020 in the Scientist of the Future category for the implementation of the project "Innovative biocompatible sensor for non-invasive glucose level detection."

2016 – The best poster presentation award for "Nanostructuring of Au films deposited onto highly ordered Ti templates for applications in SERS" at the E-MRS Spring Meeting, Lille, France, Symposium C: Laser-material interactions for tailoring future applications.

2016–2018 - Scholarship from the Director of the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN), awarded to the best young researchers in recognition of their scientific achievements.

2010 - Rector’s Cup of Gdańsk University of Technology and distinction in the Mercurius Gedanensis medal competition for the invention "Portable XRF Spectrometer for Immediate Non-Destructive Material Composition Analysis" (team award).

2021 - Award for presenting at the 72nd Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry: "Fabrication of gold-copper nanostructures by means of rapid thermal annealing - morphology, optical and photoelectrochemical properties."

2020 - Recipient of the Professor Romuald Szczęsny Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of modern technologies.

2020 - Winner of the 2019 Thesis of the Year award for the best master’s thesis at the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology.

2019 - Award from the Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Chemical Society (PTChem) for the best master’s thesis at the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology, during the 2018/2019 academic year.

2019 - Award for presenting research findings at the Surface Modification for Chemical and Biochemical Sensing (SCMBS 2019) conference organized by the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw: "Studies of the charge transfer kinetics and surface inhomogeneities of enzyme-functionalized Au-Ti electrode."

2019 - Gold Graduate Medal from the Gdańsk University of Technology for completing studies with distinction.

2015–2019 - Rector’s Scholarship for top-performing students at Gdańsk University of Technology.
