Eko Dolina

In 1991 Gdynia, Sopot, Rumia, Wejherowo, and Kosakowo established the Communal Union of Gminas „Dolina Redy i Chylonki”(Komunalny Związek Gmin Dolina Redy i Chylonki).

One of the union’s tasks was the waste management of the area inhabited by around 440 thousand people. „EKO DOLINA” Co. Ltd. was established in October 1998 to realise this goal. The shareholders are gminas of Communal Union (Gdynia, Sopot, Rumia, Reda, Wejherowo and Kosakowo Gmina ) and the Communal Union itself. This project dubbed „The Construction of Waste Treatment Plant” received a grant from ISPA totalling 15,3 mln euro, on the basis of European Commission’s decision from 26th of October 2000.

Eko Dolina is a Regional Installation of Municipal Waste Management (RIPOK) and is located in Pomorskie Voivodeship, in Wejherowo gmina. Waste from the northern part of Pomorskie Voivodeship can be delivered to the RIPOK EKO DOLINA in accordance with the Plan for Waste Management in Pomorskie voivodeship 2022. The main scope of activity is: waste management in a broad sense (particularly municipal-mixed household waste, waste from selective city collection, used electric and electronic equipment, hazardous waste, debris, and large-size waste), recycling of raw materials, limiting greenhouse gases emissions by degassing system in waste-yards, limiting of aggregated waste amounts, dissemination and education on ecology issues.
