Study visit – Taurage, Lithuania
On 4-5th April we had a study tour to our Partner in Taurage. In the beginning the Major of Taurage Mr. Sigitas Mičiulis welcomed participants of the meeting and shared his expectations of straightening cooperation between PPs in the Wasteman Project.
He mentioned the cooperation of the Taurage city with partner cities (such as Bytów in Poland) and expressed hope for inter-changing experience, concepts and solutions regarding waste management in the project.
Mr. Hans-Ch Holmstrand developed this concept by showing the visualisation of the new waste collection points
planned in Bornholm as a part of the WASTEMAN project. Then a discussion took
place about the effective collection of bio-waste and composting of them in
the owners gardens, which takes place in the District of Taurage distributing
free of charge composting containers to the owners, everyone present supported
this idea. Lat-er Mr. Marcin Paszkiewicz presented waste treatment facilities
and solutions implemented in the Eko-Dolina and shared plans for the future.
During study visit we had opportunity of visiting Taurage region including waste and
water treat-ment installations and we expressed appreciation to
the modern water treatment plant with a biogas CHP system and
digestate drying installation. All the time we were discussing
the solutions with respect to the effectiveness and improvements.
