Pomorskie Region in brief
The Pomorskie Voivodeship ( also translated as Pomorskie / Pomeranian Province and sometimes Pomorskie Region,
in Polish : "Wojewodztwo Pomorskie", NUTS 2 ) is situated in the Northern Region of Poland ( NUTS1 ),
on the Baltic Sea and occupies an area
of 18 310 km2. The voivodeship comprises 16 poviats ( counties ),
4 poviat cities and 123 gminas ( municipalities ) : 25 urban municipalities, 17 urban-rural municipalities
and 81 rural municipalities.

The Pomorskie Voivodeship - diversity creates challenges & opportunities
- The region exhibits strong spatial diversity, which leads to a differentiated development potential;
- The division between socio-economic development in the metropolitan area and areas outside the cities
inhibits
the development of the region's territorial cohesion;
- Underdeveloped infrastructure in villages and small towns is one of the barriers to development in these areas;
